This message provides an update of recent and upcoming IARIW activities.

Conference registration is now open – please register

The main activity of the Association for the current year is the 30th IARIW General Conference that will take place August 24–30 in Portoroz, Slovenia. An updated preliminary programme, now with abstracts, is posted at http://www.iariw.org/c2008.php. Registration information is now posted at http://www.stat.si/Iariw2008/Default.php. Please register as soon as possible!

Pre-conference training opportunity

A new development this year is a pre-conference training course on national accounts, to be held August 23-24 in Portoroz immediately before the General Conference. We are very pleased that François Lequiller, former Director of the National Accounts at the OECD, and currently Inspecteur General at INSEE, will be teaching the course. François is well-known for his recent book Understanding National Accounts: An OECD Manual (with Derek Blades), published by the OECD. There is no charge for the course for IARIW members. Please nominate new members of the IARIW Council

Three positions on the IARIW Council become vacant in August 2008. The call for nominations is posted on the website (http://www.iariw.org/councilnom-2008.php). The deadline for nominations is June 15, 2008. An email ballot will be distributed to members shortly thereafter.

Reshaped editorial team for the Review of Income and Wealth

The IARIW Council is pleased to welcome two additional members to the editorial team of the Review of Income and Wealth: Robert Hill from the University of Graz (Austria), and Conchita D’Ambrosio from the Università Biccoca (Milan, Italy). The new editors join the existing team from April 1, 2008 until the end of the current editorial contract (August 2009). Congratulations to Robert and Conchita on their appointments!

Later this year, the IARIW Council will seek bids for the editorial team for the period 2009-2014.

Dues for individual members

Individual members who have not prepaid their 2008 dues will have recently received an invoice by email. If you have not already paid your dues for 2008, you are asked to do so as soon as possible.

Members are asked to verify their information on the website membership directory at http://www.iariw.org/memlist.php. Changes can be made on-line through the application and information update form.

Members are invited to contact me regarding any area of concern related to the Association. I hope to see as many members as possible at the General Conference in Slovenia in August.
